Thao studied music at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. While spending time in Los Angeles, she had the opportunity to learn from notable composers and musicians like Dick de Benedictis, who was composing for "Columbo" and "Diagnosis Murder". The orchestral recordings took place at the prestigious "O'Henry Sound Studios" in Burbank. A venue where artists and bands like R.E.M., The Wallflowers and Ray Charles recorded their albums. After graduating from MI, Thao decided to become a full time music composer. Since then, her music has been synched and licensed to documentary films and trailers, aired by NBC, Discovery Channel, the BBC and Netflix, just to name a few. She was also asked to write an orchestral piece for  "2020Vision - For a wilder Britain". The composition was conducted by Martyn Ford, who is best known for having worked with Sir Paul McCartney (Wings), Phil Collins (Hello I must be going), Frida and many more. "New Beginning" was recorded at the Millenium Centre in Cardiff, Wales, the home of the Welsh opera. The 2020Vision Exhibitions also took place in London, Birmingham and other major UK cities.

Thao is also busy writing for production music companies such as Warner Chappell publishing and APM Music. Her music can also be heard on the US UNICEF TV spot "Innocent Life" featuring Angie Harmon from Rizzoli and Isles.
